Matthew has written on and off for nearly his entire life. Those early stories were shaped by Goosebumps and the fear brought on by the red SNES cartridge for Doom. By grade school, that mix had expanded into the eclectic combination of The Hobbit and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
These “early works” were written a decade or more ago, before career aspirations took him in another direction. Recovered and recreated from whatever bits and pieces could still be salvaged from the internet, old files, and memory, they represent some of the first stories he wrote with the intention of sharing them with the world.

I Should Have Worn A Different Watch
A flash fiction where a man wakes to discover that time still matters, even when almost everything else has stopped. A 'creepypasta' about consciousness, isolation, and the one unbearably ordinary object that becomes the bane of his existence, until it does not.
Originally published some time in 2016. The original site has since undergone several iterations and youtubers have narrated this story several times.
