About the Story
What begins as an accident and subsequent misunderstanding grows into a reputation larger than the man at the center of it.
Three-Blade Will began as an idea for a ren faire performance piece and grew into a comic novelette about about pride, misunderstanding and the way a story can morph and spread beyond the people directly involved.
The tale takes place in a historical-fantasy-inspired setting shaped by ren faire performance ideas around the late medieval and early modern time periods, historical fencing, and the small human details that make a world feel lived in. Characters get hot when they sun is out. They get hungry and thirsty as the day wears on. The setting includes animal breeds, local crafts, dueling customs and the tools and equipment people carry.
At its heart, Three-Blade Will is a comedy of errors about people trying to live up to, or just survive the roles they perform, the reputations they develop without even knowing it, and the ways that gossip and stories spread.
